In my math tutoring practice, I start where the student is at to try to figure out their source of confusion. I try to encourage students to ask a lot of questions and voice their uncertainties. There are no 'stupid' questions!

Math Tutoring that is Flexible
I strongly believe that each student is unique and that the best learning is achieved when a tutor tailors the lessons to match a student's learning style.
And Focused on Building Confidence
I believe confidence is key in mastering math; confidence not to find the answer right away, but to attempt a question and to be OK with being confused for some time!

And a Deep Understanding
As much as possible, I try to push my students to figure out answers on their own; I am a guide, but they are the ones in the driver seat. This allows not only for a deeper understanding, but also feelings of autonomy.
And a Math Tutor who is Compassionate
Although there is a natural hierarchy between a tutor and a student, I try to foster a spirit of collaboration while teaching. I aim to earn the trust of my students, and to convey to them that I am sympathetic to the challenges they face while learning math.
