Math Tutor
Master Mathematics from an Experienced Math Tutor!
Student-centered and compassionate math tutoring focused on building student's confidence and developing a deeper understanding of math concepts.
Math Tutoring that is Student-Centered
In my math tutoring practice, I start where the student is at, and try to figure out their source of confusion. I try to encourage my students to ask their questions and voice their concerns. There are no 'stupid' questions.

Math Tutoring that is Flexible
I strongly believe that each student is unique and best learning is achieved when a tutor tailors the lessons to match a student's learning style
Focused on building confidence
I believe confidence is key in mastering math; confidence not about being able to find the answer right away, but to attempt a question and be OK with being confused for some time

A Math Tutor who is a Guide
As much as possible, I try to push the students to figure out the answers on their own; I make sure they are on the right track but I try to have them find the final answer. This allows not only for a deeper understanding, but also higher confidence and feelings of autonomy.
A Math Tutor who is Compassionate and Patient
Although there is a natural hierarchy between a tutor and a student, I try to foster a collaborative spirit as well. Through my teaching, I try to communicate to the students that I really have their best interest at heart and I am sympathetic to their struggles when doing math.

Frequently Asked Questions
What services do you provide?
I tutor students at all levels up to and including undergrad math. I help my students with homework and exam preparation. I also teach math, either according to what is taught in class, or in preparation for more advanced classes, or independent of any class (in the case of students who have a general interest in math).
Where is the location of your services?
Although I offer online tutoring, I prefer in-person as it allows for a greater sense of presence when learning and a deeper and more trusting student-teacher connection. I usually meet my students at a cafe or a library in downtown Toronto. If you like me to come to you, that would be an extra charge for travel. Otherwise, if you are only looking for online sessions, those will be conducted through zoom.
What are your fees?
I usually charge $65 for each 55-minute session.
What are your credentials?
I have tutored math for the past 5 years. I have an MSc from University of British Columbia in Mathematical Biology.
Why do you tutor mathematics?
It's extremely fulfilling for me when I help students feel more confident in their quantitative abilities and more generally, in their ability to make sense of the world. I strive to be a positive force in students' education, guiding them through a system that leaves many behind, and helping them to feel confident in their abilities.
